Russell Forest is a privately-owned forest available for public use. It includes more than 80 miles of hiking, biking and equestrian trails.
Russell Forest Trail RulesAt least one member of each group must call security at 256-329-1511 and register upon arrival at the trailhead. There will be no exceptions to this rule. Any lone rider must call upon arrival and upon leaving.
- Alcohol, firearms, camping, overnight parking, open fires, cigarette smoking (during no-burn periods), horse racing, abusive language and littering, are prohibited.
- Four wheelers, motorcycles and all motorized vehicles are prohibited, with the exception of approved Russell Lands related vehicles in the scope of approved business.
- The trails are open for use from dawn till dusk.
- All vehicles must park at designated trailhead locations only.
- Dogs must be on a leash at all times while on trail property.
- Horse riders must stay on designated trails at all times. Horses are not allowed in construction areas or on cabin roads. The trails are clearly posted.
- Due to the variety of trail users (horse riders, walkers, joggers and bikers ) we ask that all users exercise appropriate etiquette, courtesy and patience while on the trail.
- Willful violation of any rule will result in immediate removal from the trail property and the possible loss of the privilege to return.
- All rules are subject to possible future changes and/or additions, at the discretion of Russell Lands’ management personnel.
